“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) British novelist and essayist. Here is my guide to Sunday Lunch in London.
This quote resonates with me so much, and if you agree and are ready for your mouth to water, then read on!
Alternative to a traditional Sunday Roast
Some people like a traditional roast dinner on a Sunday, however, as I love seafood so much, the Scoff and Banter menu caught my eye. The contemporary British cuisine made me feel like I was having lunch at home cooked by a Michelin starred chef.
Where is Scoff and Banter?
The Canary Wharf location has a stunning view over the river, right opposite the O2 arena. It is a very stylish restaurant, with an intimate feel at the same time. The perfect place for a romantic lunch for two, I went here with my boyfriend and we sat for a few hours we had such a great time!
What we ate at Scoff and Banter Canary Wharf??
Starter
Cornish crab cakes with chilli lime sauce
Prawn cocktail with spicy lemon mayo
Main
Fish pie with salmon, cod and prawns in a creamy white wine sauce, served with lemon-steamed kale and peas
Our British beef burger with Lancashire Bomb melted cheese, smoked streaky bacon and chilli mayo with hand-cut chips
Dessert
Warm Bramley apple crumble, served with Cornish clotted ice cream or vanilla custard
Berry and mint lattice pie with vanilla custard
Scoff and Banter – Kensington
Then the next day, as if all this food wasn’t enough, we tried out the Scoff and Banter in Kensington. I’m afraid this time the food didn’t last long enough for photos! This location is a traditional mansion style building right by Gloucester Road station. The waiters were so welcoming I’ve never had such amazing hospitality before!
Starter
Slow-roasted garlic mushrooms with toasted sourdough
Main
Baby spinach, goat’s cheese and walnut salad with honey balsamic dressing
Seared sea bass and tiger prawns, shaved fennel and radish salad with a lemon herb dressing
So if that has caught your eye… head over to the Scoff and Banter website now to book yourself a table for Sunday lunch in London!!!
If you want to get out of the city during your trip to the UK – I would recommend heading to the coast in Dorset! So many walks to do here and lots of lovely beaches too.
